Should children use AI for homework?

வீட்டுப்பாடமும் நேர்மையும்

Yes, to understand an idea; no, to do the work for them. From Class 6, many children can reach an AI tool at home. At school, every project ends with a check done without AI. At home, the same idea works: the help is fine, the thinking must be theirs.

Usually fine

For Classes 6–12, AI can be a patient tutor.

  • Explaining a hard idea in simpler words
  • Giving practice questions to try
  • Checking spelling after the work is written

Not fine

Copying an AI answer and handing it in as their own. Asking AI to write the whole essay or solve the whole sum. Teachers in Classes 9–12 will ask students to explain their work aloud.

The honest habit

If AI helped, say so. Ask your child to show you one part done without AI: a sum worked on paper, a paragraph in their own words. Praise the honesty, not only the answer.

Questions parents ask

Quick answers

Should children use AI for homework?

For understanding, yes; for doing the work, no. AI can explain an idea or quiz your child, but the answers, essays and drawings they hand in should be their own. If AI helped, they should say so. Our programme starts student AI use only from Class 6, on teacher-owned accounts.

When is using AI for homework cheating?

When AI does the thinking your child is meant to show, and the work is handed in as theirs. Copying an AI answer, essay or picture without saying so is not honest. Asking AI to explain a step, then doing the task alone, is usually fine. Your child’s teacher sets the rules.

How can parents check AI-assisted homework?

Ask your child to explain the work aloud, without the tool open. Ask which parts AI helped with and how they checked it. Every AI Flywheel lesson ends with one check done without AI, so children in Classes 6–12 get used to showing they understood.
