Framework & Research
The AI Flywheel framework: four stages, DRIVE at the hub, CORE at the rim.
The AI Flywheel framework runs every programme, every studio and every level. Tools expire. Layers endure.

DRIVE
A cycle, not a line. Every life cycle runs inside it.
- DDiagnoseWrite success as a number before you build.
- RResourceOwn the road, rent the car.
- IImplementRedesign the work, don't pave the cow path.
- VValidatePass the sceptic's test, with evidence.
- EExpandScale what works; hand over the next turn.
The rim · governance
CORE
Governance that runs across every stage, not after it.
- CComplianceRisk tiers, DPDP and the rules that apply.
- OOpennessSay what is AI, and show how it decided.
- RResponsibilityNo owner, no system. A kill switch you've tested.
- EEmpowermentPeople stay in charge, and get better at the work.

Aware
Evidence: Scenario quiz, taken without AI
C2
Practitioner
Evidence: A logged use case, plus the same task done without AI
C3

Evidence: Gate records and an oral defence

Quick answers
The framework, answered.
What is the AI Flywheel framework?
The AI Flywheel framework, by M. K. Elango, treats AI value as a heavy wheel: hard to start, then self-reinforcing. It has four stages of AI, compounds through the five-phase DRIVE method, is governed by four-pillar CORE, and measures people on five levels, C1 to C5.
What are the four stages of AI?
Foundation AI (data, classical ML and the model layer), Generative AI (AI that produces content), Agentic AI (agents that plan and carry out work) and Physical AI (robotics and embodied systems). Foundation is the floor; it sets the ceiling for every other stage.
How do DRIVE and CORE fit together?
DRIVE is the method at the hub: Diagnose, Resource, Implement, Validate, Expand. CORE is the governance at the rim: Compliance, Openness, Responsibility and Empowerment. Every turn of the wheel runs through DRIVE, and CORE gates decide how far it may go.
